It’s about the mindset
I want to be clear out of the gate: When I quote Jesus and say “don’t worry about your life,” I’m not saying stop working. That job you’ve got can be the means He has to deliver to you. What I’m saying is, let go of the anxiety and fear and let Him lead. It’s about the mindset, not doing more or less. Be confident that He’s going to lead you to good decisions and opportunities, and that He’ll help you gain access to whatever it is you need to serve and protect your family and neighbors.

A lesson in trust from the manna in the desert
What that? You’ve got trouble trusting His expertise because you feel, based on what other PEOPLE have told you, that it’s reckless?
I get it. One of my biggest stumbling blocks has been feeling like I have to have 8,000 contingency plans. But I try to remember Exodus 16. In that chapter of the Bible, God gives the people manna to eat. He tells them to gather only what they need. Some people don’t listen, and the extra manna rots and gets worms.
You do not have trouble until you try to control the Lord’s blessings for yourself under your own judgment. Even as the world teaches you to pursue a flood of wealth, you can trust the manna to come in a reliable trickle so that you don’t hoard and mess it up. You can trust that He knows the land you’re supposed to be in. You still have to go out of your tent with your basket every day. But He’s not going to forget you.
