Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the reciprocity we’re supposed to have in our relationship with God. And it occurred to me that if the master gives the servant a job to do, the master trusts the servant to some degree to do the work well. They expect that the servant will follow their directions and get a good result.
So, you might ask, how in the world can God put His trust in people like you and me? We’re the ones who killed His Son. We’re the ones who forsook Him at every turn.
God can trust us because He’s not looking at us with the strength we have on our own. He’s looking at us with the strength we have through Him. Because His strength and understanding is always perfect, so long as we lean on it, we can do the work He asks us to do.
Think for a moment how it felt the last time your boss trusted you with a big project. Probably made you feel a little nervous because you were getting into uncharted water. But once you were done, you probably felt like King Kong. You probably understood the boss had seen potential in you that you hadn’t seen.
Like Moses, you might question who you are to do what He asks. But God never picks the wrong person for the job. Ever. So just go do great things. He hands them to YOU for a reason.
